Raymond J. Wessling
Mass of the Christian burial for Raymond J. Wessling of 227 N.
Maple St., Carroll, was held this morning, Monday, March 21, 1994, at
Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Mr. Wessling, 81, died Thursday, March
17, 1994, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
The Rev. Richard Remmes officiated the funeral Mass. Lector was
Carolyn Oswald Johnson. Gift bearers were Lisa, Tanja and Jennifer Wessling.
Casket bearers were Donald Oswald, Douglas Oswald, Steve Wessling,
Mark Wessling, Brian Wessling and Scott Wessling. Honorary casket
bearers were John Wurzer, John Mitchell, Harry Harmeyer, Bill Becker,
Ralph Winker, Larry Riesselman, Virgil Lappe and Clarence Loneman.
Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends called Sunday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll, where a
vigil service and two rosaries were held.
He was born Sept. 25, 1912, at Breda, a son of Louis and Mary (Welte)
Wessling, and educated at St. Bernard grade school and high school in Breda.
He and Lucille I. Neuerburg were married May 4, 1936, at Carroll
with the Rev. Lambert Schenkelberg officiating.
Mr. Wessling worked at the Carroll Roller Mill for 10 years, at
Western Grocery for 15 years and was the Super Value store manager for 30 years.
He lived at 227 N. Maple St. in Carroll for 41 years.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, its Men's Club, the
Knights of Columbus and the Senior Citizen's Activity Center, all of Carroll.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of Carroll; a daughter,
Marlene Oswald, and her husband, Walter, of Adams, Minn.; three sons,
Louis Wessling and his wife, Jolene, of Breda, Dennis Wessling and his
wife. LeAnn, of Parkville, Mo., and Gene Wessling and his wife, Joyce,
of Carroll; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers,
Albin Wessling of Carroll, Hugo Wessling and his wife, Mary, of Carroll
and Rudy Wessling and his wife, Irene, of Carroll; two sisters, Rita
(Mrs. Felix) Grossman of Carroll and Caroline Schreuers of Tyler, Minn;
and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Wessling of Rapid City, S.D.
Mr. Wessling was preceded in death by his parents; a brother,
Alfred; and two grandsons, David Oswald and Jeff Wessling.
