Mary Ann White
Mrs. Mary Ann White, for more than forty years a resident of
Adams county, died Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mr. Roy
Northup, south of Nodaway, her death resulting from the infirmities of old age.
Mary Ann Cassidy was born June 10, 1847, at Detroit, Mich., and
was 77 years of age at her death. She was married to Matthew J. White in
Mendota, Ill., on August 21, 1870, and to this union nine children were
born, four of whom are deceased. Those living are Geo. F. White, Arion,
Iowa; Chas. M. White, L. E. White, Burlington, Iowa; A. J. White, Omaha,
Nebr.; and Mrs. Roy Northup at whose home Mrs. White resided. Mrs. White
was preceded in death by her husband. Besides her children she also
leave one brother, P. J. Cassidy, one sister, Mrs. Joanna Manning of
Arlington, Ill. Mrs. White came with her family to Burlington, Iowa, in
18xx and in 18x2 she came to Adams county where she has made her home
until her death. She was a member of the Catholic church and the funeral
was held at that church in Corning at 10 o'clock Monday morning with
Rev. Father Sylvian in charge of the services. Interment was made in
Calvary cemetery at Corning. Those who came from a distance to attend
the funeral were Geo. White of Arion, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. White of
Burlington, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. White of Omaha, P. J. Cassidy, Mrs.
Joanna Manning and Miss Margaret of Arlington, Illinois.

Died
Mrs. Mary White passed away Friday at 12:30 o'clock at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Northup, south of town. Mrs. White was a
resident of this community a number of years ago, but has resided in
Creston for several years past. She came to make her home with her
daughter about a year ago. She also leaves four sons, Al, Lou, Charles
and George. Mrs. White was a very loveable character and stood high in
the estimation of all who know her. The funeral services were held
Monday morning at the Catholic church in Corning, and interment was made
in Calvary cemetery, beside the husband who passed away a few years ago.
