Evelyn Wilberding
Breda - Evelyn Wilberding, 80, of Breda, died Friday evening,
June 14, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial was concelebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, June 17, at St. Bernard church in Breda with the Revs. Ed Girres
and Thomas Munn as celebrants. The mass-servers were Brent Tiefenthaler,
Mike and John Van Erdewyk; gift-bearers Alice O'Brien and Shirley
Jennewein and lectors Joni Reiff and Wayne Brincks. Burial, under the
direction of the Sharp Funeral Home of Breda, was in the parish
cemetery. Serving as casketbearers were Mark Jennewein, Mike Steinkamp,
Randy Reiff, Pat Wiederin, Gary Kropf and Tony Niewohner.
Mrs. Wilberding is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Richard
(Alice) O'Brien, Carroll; Mrs. Lonnie (Evelyn) Kropf, Breda; Mrs. Joe
(Myrna) Niewohner, Scribner, Neb.; Mrs. Art (Marilyn) Reiff, Carroll,
and Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Jennewein, Yankton, S.D.; three sons: Edward
Wilberding, Norwich, Vt.; Larry Wilberding, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and
Merle Wilberding, Dayton, 0.; a daughter-in-law Peggy Wilberding,
Lakewood, Colo.; 30 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five
step-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Victor (Elizabeth) Wernimont,
Carroll; Mrs. Peter (Teresa) Oswald, Breda; Mrs. Charles (Mamie) Schelle,
Breda, and Mrs. Lawrence (Florence) Wolterman, Carroll, and a brother
Clarence Goecke, Breda.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Anthony on
February 25, 1981; a daughter Lois in infancy, a son Donald, and three
grandchildren: Terry and Scott Wilberding and Toni Ekiss.
Mrs. Wilberding was born at Carroll on September 19, 1904, a
daughter of William and Margaret Boeker Goecke. She spent her early
years in the Mount Carmel and Breda areas and attended school at Mount Carmel.
On January 22, 1929, she was married to Anthony Wilberding at St.
Bernard church in Breda by the Rev. Joseph Schulte. After their
marriage, they farmed southwest of Breda until 1959 when they moved into
Breda and he managed the Breda Grain Company.
She was a member of St. Bernard church, the Ladies Guild and the
Breda Senior Citizens Club.
