Tuesday Services Scheduled For John Wiley, 71
Funeral services for John Wiley, 71 of Malcom, who died Sunday
morning at a local hospital following an extended illness, will be held
at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the James Schalinske Funeral Home.
Officiating will be the Rev. James Robinson, pastor of the Malcom
Methodist church, and the Rev. G. R. Dicken of Brooklyn. Interment will
be in Ivy Hill cemetery in Malcom.
The son of Henry and Ida Strong Wiley, he was born July 2nd, 1892, near
Malcom and attended the rural schools of that community. He had farmed
in the Malcom area all of his life and was a member of the Malcom
Methodist church.
On Feb 22nd 1915, he was united in marriage with Agnes Larsen at the
home of her parents in Malcom. To this union six children were born:
Lyle Wiley of Brooklyn, Mrs. Richard (Fern) Beyer of Montezuma, Russell
Wiley of Montezuma, Mrs. Thomas (Lillian) Le Vake of Plainfield, Wayne
Wiley of Grinnell, and Alice Grace Wiley who died in infancy.
On April 9th, 1930, he was united in marriage with Anna Alertsen at
Grinnell and to this union two children were born: Garland Wiley of
Montezuma and Mrs. Michael (Doris) Hotchkin of Grinnell.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; his seven children; 19 grandchildren;
four great- grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Wilma Neville of Malcom,
Mrs. Blanche Wiley of Grinnell, Mrs. Edna Titcomb of Grinnell, and Mrs.
Fred Scruby of Montezuma; and two brothers, Raymond Wiley of Grinnell
and Delmar Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Agnes; his
infant daughter, Alice Grace; and a brother, Matt Wiley.

Funeral services for John Wiley, 71, were conducted Tuesday
afternoon, Aug. 13, at the James Schalinske Funeral Home, Grinnell.
Wiley was a lifelong resident of the Malcom area. He died Sunday, August
11, at a Grinnell hospital following an extended illness.

Montezuma; Mrs. Thomas (Lillian) LeVake, Plainfield; Wayne Wiley,
Grinnell, and Alice Grace Wiley who died in infancy.

Pallbearers were Fred Beck, Vernon Pargeon, Lester Thompson, Earl Mann,
Lester Smith, and Henry Stahl. Helping with flowers were Mrs. Lester
Thompson, Mrs. Vernon Pargeon, and Mrs. Fred Beck.
Interment was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.
