Edith Williams
Edith E. Williams, 95, of Aledo, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999,
at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fippinger Funeral
Home in Aledo, Rev. Brent K. Phillips officiating. Burial is in the
Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services where
memorials may be left for the Aledo United Methodist Church or the
Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born March 14, 1904, in Mercer County, a daughter of
David and Zella Guthrie Spence. She attended Aledo schools and married
George P. Williams April 7, 1927, in Aledo. He died Nov. 16, 1984.
They resided in Aledo until 1945, moving to Lewistown, Ill., and
later Canton, Ill. She returned to Aledo in 1985.
She was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church and the
Aledo Christian Woman's Club.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Williams, and a
grandson, Randall Williams, both of Canton; sisters, Florence Ranney of
Aledo and Mary Reed of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James, a
brother, Clarence Spence, and sisters, Mergie Smith, Edna Bigham and
Inez Bonynge, all of Aledo.
