Fatal Mishap Fair Grounds
Jack Zadina, 39, of Corning, was killed in an accident at the
Adams County Speedway track at the fair grounds here Sunday night about 8:30 p.m.
Investigating officials said the mishap occurred at the southwest
turn of the half-mile track.
A track official was quoted as saying that the right rear of the
car broke and the automobile rolled over. A six year veteran, he was
driving in the street stock car trophy dash.
He had driven in the amateur division at the speedway for about
four years before starting to drive in the street stock division last year.
Jack Zadina was born at Omaha, Nebr., Dec. 20, 1936. He was the
son of John Joseph II and Stephanie Nenichetta Zadina. He was married
Feb. 18, 1964, to Ellen Sullivan, at Papillion, Nebr.
He is survived by his widow; six children, Richard, Billie and
Joe, at home, and three children by a previous marriage, Patrick,
Darlene and Kelly Zadina of Omaha, Nebr.; his mother and maternal
grandmother; and parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sullivan of
Corning; and a brother-in-law, Richard Sullivan.
He was employed at the Adams county Cooperative Electric Company.
Funeral services were scheduled Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church in Corning, conducted by Rev. John Kovacs with
burial in Calvary Cemetery here.
A Rosary service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Larkin-Roland
funeral home in Corning.
He was a veteran of military service in the Korean conflict.
The accident was investigated by the Iowa Highway Patrol, the
Adams County Sheriff's Office and the Corning Police Department.
