Genevieve Thorpe is Charming June Bride
Miss Genevieve Belle Thorpe, of Lake View, became the bride of
Eugene Reinart, of Carroll, at an impressive service in St. Joseph's
Catholic church in Wall Lake at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning, June10th.
The nuptial mass was celebrated by the Rev. A. Rausch, the single ring
ceremony being used.
The happy pair was attended by Miss Lucille Reinart, sister of the
groom, and Arthur Reinart, brother of the groom
The bride wore a suit of Copenhagen blue pebble crepe, with accessories
of white and a shoulder corsage of yellow rose buds, and carried a
prayer book. The bridesmaid's dress was of pink silk crepe, and she wore
white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Dark suits, with
bouttonieres of pink roses, were worn by the groom and the groomsman.
A three-course wedding breakfast was served at 10 o'clock at the home of
the bride's parents for the immediate families. A wedding cake in three
tiers formed the table centerpiece, and sweet peas were effectively used
to further the decorative scheme, carried out in pastel colors of blue,
pink, green and yellow. Garden flowers were used throughout the home.
The breakfast was served by the Misses Leona Peters of Breda and Elaine
Lille of Lake View, who wore white dresses and organdy aprons of yellow and green.
Mr. and Mrs. Reinart left on a wedding trip to Chicago and Kalamazoo,
Mich. At the latter city, they will visit Mr. Reinart sister, Mrs.
Douglas Schleisman. They intended to be away a week or ten days, and
after returning, will be at home in the Nockels Apartments in Carroll.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Thorpe. She came to
Lake View with her parents at the age of nine months. For the past 15
years, as a neighbor of the Resort family, we have seen her grow from a
little girl to splendid young womanhood. We have watched her with pride
and respect, and know when we state that she is one of the finest young
ladies ever reared in Lake View. With her hosts of friends we entertain
for her most sincere wishes for all the happiness which she so well
deserves. She graduated from the Lake View High School in 1931, and
attended summer school at Cedar Falls to fit herself for teaching. She
taught in the rural schools in Sac and Carroll counties for two years,
and the past year has been employed as a clerk in Bert's Store. She has
taught in the Methodist Sunday School and in the Vacation Bible School
and was formerly a member of the local Rainbow Girls. She has been
active in the Lake View Drama Club, of which she is a member.
A number of pre-nuptial social courtesies have been accorded her. One of
the more recent was a miscellaneous shower held for her last Friday
afternoon at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J. D. Level, of Sac City, which
was attended by the relative and a few friends.
Mr. Reinart is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reinart of Carroll. He
graduated from the Carroll high school in 1928, and is now employed by
the Webb Oil Co., of Carroll.
