Mitch Stadium "Pitched-in For Uganda"

Columbus American Little League from Georgia may have left with the gold medals and championship pennant, but another group of young baseball players came away winners from the 2010 Tournament of State Champions.

During the TOSC, we collected new and "gently-used" baseball gloves and equipment to donate to Uganda in Africa through the Pitch-In for Baseball organization.  The following is a list of the equipment collected and will be sent to Africa.

  • 68 fielding gloves (various sizes)

  • 27 batting helmets

  • 18 Little League baseball bats

  • 7 softball bats

  • 14 pairs of youth cleats

  • 10 player equipment bags

  • 3 full sets of catcher's gear (mitt, mask, chest protector, shin guards)

  • 3 additional catcher's helmets

  • 8 chest protectors

  • 5 sets of youth shin guards

  • 3 sets of adult shin guards

  • 1 set of anchored bases

  • 10 pairs of black youth baseball pants

  • 1 complete set of Little League "Pirates" uniforms (jerseys and pants)

  • 2 buckets of assorted baseball and softballs

  • Several miscellaneous supplies (umpire clicker, pencils)

Each summer, eight state champions from the Southeast Region travel to Legendary Mitch Stadium for the annual Little League Tournament of State Champions, a celebration of "Home Town Little League" and "hometown America" at its best.  The seventh annual TOSC will be held July 29-August 3, 2011.
