Jim Williams was born in The Shive Texas in Hamilton County. His father, Thomas Walter Williams was a farmer in The Flat Texas area of Coryell County. Jim had four sisters and seven brothers. He met Lena McMahan in McGregor Texas and they married in 1906. Jim farmed and also had a job as a watchman. In the late 1920's he became a City Marshal of McGregor Texas. Jim's father-in-law, D. McMahan had served as City Marshal from the 1910's until the mid to late 1920's. Jim died on his farm in Crawford Texas while fishing in the creek that ran through his property.
