Now if they intervened, there would have been no story. Had to
happend. Either way, they had no way of detecting chemical compound.
Archer did give the order to stand down. Even if he did not give them
free run of the ship( I never pick up hitch hikers),or had them
confined to even a cargo area. They still could have blown a nice
hole in the Hull. So he was damed if he did or did'nt...

It was more of morality story . Not bad at all. I am more interested
now in this weeks show

Good review...and you are right this episode like so many others in the Trek mythos reflects modern day feelings and trends. My feeling is that how can a civilization that can utilize warp technology and go into the vast reaches of space still hold the equilivent of 12th century religious thinking? The interesting thing about the the people that the Archer and his crew met were that their differences in their religious thinking is so minor and that small difference led to the destruction of their planet and it's culture. I would like to see as episode that shows a planet that has many various levels of technological development and the crew have to decide if they should interact with just the most technologiacally developed society on that planet. I would give the comparison of the United States government having sole contact with an alien visitor as oppossed to the visitors having contact with perhaps nomadic desert tribesmen. What are some of your thoughts?

Yeah, this was a weak point in the story for me. Surely the ship's records
are double or triple-archived, with a copy beamed back to Starfleet HQ on a
fairly regular basis. I half expected T-Pol to come in later and say. "Not
to worry, Captain. We do backups."

But, no, it's going to be a story point in next weeks episode. "We canna
retrieve the data, Captain!" "I'm a doctor, not a database manager!"

...oh well...

I agree. Last week's episode was good. The show is definitely
getting better this season. I also just read the Enterprise
novel 'Deadulus'. It was great. I'm looking forward to reading book
2 in May. I also can't wait to see tomorrow night's episode.
