MJC Review:

The Drama -

One word: boring. After doing so well with the first episode of the series, how could the producers and writers screw up on the second episode (come join me for a beer and I'll give you my private comments)?? A mediocre story plus a some good acting still equals a mediocre story! The first half hour was useless!! Only towards the last 15 minutes, does the viewer get any idea of what is really going on. Well, the series is about first contact, however, contact with dead aliens is not the best way to start things off. I guess the only drama worth mentioning is Sato. Apparently, she has a fear of everything when it comes to space travel. But, with Archer's help, she overcomes her fears and self confidence problems and manages to save the day for ship and crew. Some pretty good acting by Linda park, too. That's about the only thing that saves this episode from and MJC extinction rating. That's about all that I have that's worth commenting on this episode.

Tid Bits -

Hmm, deck plates squeaky? Get some WD-40. At the beginning, Archer mentions that they've been traveling at warp 5. Strange, because in the first episode they were just beginning to test warp 4.5. I though that the producers would at least make a whole dramatic episode on finally reaching warp 5. A huge accomplishment that the humans have been looking forward to. Oh, well. The ship attacking the Enterprise kind of looks Breen- hmmm. I guess when Star Trek shows start broadcasting in letter box format, it's time to start saving for a HDTV.

What it all means -

Sato is scared of the dark.
