MJC Review:
The Drama -
Optimism vs Pessimism. That about sums it up. After discovering Enterprise's wreckage and
convinced that it has been destroyed, Reed was convinced that both him and Trip will die.
On the other hand, Trip was not about to give up so easily and would do and did everything
possible to keep hope alive that they would be rescued. Most of the show dealt with the
two polar-opposite individuals dealing with what seemed to be a hopeless situation. They
do everything from yell at each other to work with another and back and forth. I guess
being faced with death can have that affect on people. The best scene that I liked was the
"drinking" scene. I thought for sure that Trip would admit to "liking"
T'Pol, instead it was Reed who made the confession. I guess that Kentucky bourbon wasn't
strong enough for Trip to fess up. This Reed vs Trip interaction reminding me a lot of the
famous Bones vs. Kirk scenes. When all seemed doomed, Bones thought for sure that all was
lost while Kirk never did believe in a "no-win-scenario". I think that the
scenes of Archer and Enterprise should have been held off till the very end. Having
continuous scenes in the Shuttlepod would have made the plot seem more believable rather
than cutting away to the Enterprise shots every few minutes.
Tid Bits -
Wanna make a Vulcan chick smile? Just say "Stinky".
What it all means -
In the face of death, optimism and pessimism can eventually work (and drink) together.
