MJC Review:
The Drama -
This was a relatively good episode for Hoshi. No major foul-ups, but no great dramatic scenes either. At least,  she wasn't screaming like a kid every five seconds on "Fight or Flight". It seems like we get a more well rounded and in depth look at what Hoshi feels and thinks. She definitely had the feeling of loneliness, being different, and not just being able to quite fit in with the rest of the crew. Many of these qualities she could relate to with Tarquin. The offer to stay with Tarquin had to be tempting for her. I think that the "Starfleet" side of her (honor, duty, the mission, and all that stuff) was what drove her to stay on Enterprise. However, deep down inside, the offer had to be tempting though not portrayed as much as it should have.

The use of a telepathic character to explore the Hoshi character worked out well. In the end, the viewer gets a better feel for the Hoshi. It's too bad the viewer had to wait until the third season to learn all this stuff about her! Some good acting by Linda as well.

It seems that T'Pol and Hoshi do have a lot in common with being different and trying to deal with a ship full of humans that don't quite understand how they think. During the first season, there seemed to be a friendship bond developing between Hoshi and T'Pol. What ever happened to that??

The subplot was useless as far as the story goes for this episode, but a good tie-in for the overall Xindi plot. At least, Reed and Archer get some target practice!!

Tid Bits -
1) Did anyone see Mayweather? If he did show up, did he get any lines??

2) "Phlox" appears on Angel.

3) Hoshi has a nice, hot, skimpy dress. Does T'Pol now have competition??

4) Tarquin's place reminds me of some eerie dark ages castle.

What it all means -
Ever seen "Beauty and the Beast"?
