MJC Review:
The Drama -

This was some really good emotional drama on how extreme religious issues can be. There was some really good analogies to our own present and past religious holy wars.  O'Farrell did a very good job at portraying D'Jamat. D'Jamat seemed to be a very real and believable character. Almost anyone could relate D'Jamat to some historical or present day religious fanatic. The various scenes about his holy plans and extreme views on his religion did send chills down the TV tube. It brought attention to the legitimate and serious religions problems for his race. Indeed, he was psychotic and would have taken his followers and the Enterprise to destruction had the crew not retaken the ship. He was a well developed and written character.

It was kind of lame how easily the zealots were able to take over Enterprise. Where was MACO when this happened? Playing Poker? The rest of the episodes was good enough to make up for this mediocre part. The scenes of Enterprise being retaken were very well done and believable. MACO redeemed themselves on that part.

Archer's plan for putting him to death was quit clever. Perhaps, one of the few instances he'll use the transporter. This was also a strong character episode for Archer.

The final scenes of destruction on the Triannon home world were quite dramatic - nothing but death and destruction. One could see the result when extreme views come to a head-to-head clash. Perhaps the line from Archer should have been billions dead, instead of millions. In some ways, there was some similarity to  TOS: 'Let That Be Your Last Battlefield'. However, this episode was written in its own unique way that gave it a fresh feel. The TOS episode was more about race and bigotry - dominant issues for the '60s. This episode focused on religious conflicts. A very hot topic in today's world issues. Either way, the result is the same - death and destruction. Overall, this episode had some very good intellectual and emotional stimulation for the viewer. A well done job.

Tid Bits -
1) Mayweather is forced to pilot the Enterprise.

2) I guess that 22nd century computer technology no longer has password protection. Now anyone can delete files and view the captain's personal logs. I wonder if the have backups?

3) One of Phlox's exotic critters helps save the day.

What it all means -
I'm right and you're wrong.
