MJC Review:
The Drama -

Although, there were not as many superman action scenes as in 'Borderland', the Augment/Soong character interactions were entertaining enough to make it a worthwhile episode to watch. There was a clear power struggle developing with Malik and Soong over the leadership and directions that the Augments should take. In Malik's previous power confrontation in 'Borderland', he simply killed his older brother. The rest of the Augments did seem loyal to their "father", Soong, and look up to him for guidance and direction. The flashback scenes of Soong raising them has kids reveal the root of their respect and devotion to Soong. Yet, Malik's ambitions and aggressiveness may yet override his feelings for Soong. Malik did come across as more aggressive in this episode than the last episode. Perhaps too aggressive than he should have been. His aggressiveness was displayed quite well in the science station's "torture chamber". It's still unclear at this point whether Malik will go as far as to usurping his father. The general plot trend does indicate that. No matter what unfolds in the next episode, the character conflict between Malik and Soong will more likely take center stage in the next episode.

Soong seemed to actually care for these "kids" as if they were his own. It did seem to come across that he had some grand ideal society that these Augments should build which wasn't necessarily all bad. Yet, like his late 20th century ancestors, he may underestimate their ambitions. His compassion for the Augments should play an interesting role in the next episode. Spiner has consistently shown great acting abilities with Soong. Soong was even more interesting to watch than in the previous episode.

Smike was an interesting character to portray. Not like his superman siblings, he was more or less the same as any other human, except with better hearing.

Tid Bits -

1) Mayweather doesn't get much to do in this episode either.

2) MACO has consistently proven useless in combating Augments. They should go back to taking on the Reptilian Xindi.

3) 20th century white jackets and ties are still the norm for 22nd century scientists.

4) So, what are Cold Stations 1-11 about?

What it all means -
Malik is a young Khan in training.
