Journal/Personal Development Essay Due Dates ~ By October 29, you will submit to your religion teacher the essay entitled, "What motivates people to do good in the world?"  That will count as your first PDE, when those teachers forward them to me.  Due dates for this 9-weeks will occur on November 9th, December 3rd, and December 17th.  On each of those dates, 4 Journals will be due, and one PDE.  The Second PDE will be about a movie that you find particularly inspiring.  Describe the characteristics of that movie that you think make it worth watching for the lessons it contains.  The Third PDE, though due after Thanksgiving, involves those things for which you feel most thankful.  The Fourth PDE is our annual "Christmas Wish" PDE - if you could wish for one completely intangible, but totally personal thing for Christmas, what would it be.  (Notice that the placement of these due dates will have all this work completed by Christmas, leaving you plenty of time to prepare for your Exams!)
I-Search Projects ~  The second phase of your project involves the completion of your I-Search paper.  The format is described in detail in your Toolbox, but we will also discuss the process in class, and I will provide you with the grading rubric that will be used to evaluate it.  The paper will be due on January 4th.   Seniors will be doing a Family Tree project for the Second Quarter.  (You may, of course, choose to do a full-scale project as well.)  That will be due on January 7th.
World Cultures ~We will review the first part of Greek history (the Achaean period and the Golden Age) on Nov. 1, and have our Objective test on the 3rd.  There will be no Subjective Test on this part of the unit.  We will complete Greek history (the Alexandrian Age) by Nov. 12th, and will have our second Objective test before Thanksgiving Break.  The Subjective test will be due at that time.
20th Century History ~ As soon as we discuss the conclusion to WWI, we will have our Objective Test (about Nov. 8th).  There will be no Subjective test for this unit.  We will complete Unit 3 before Thanksgiving and have another Objective Test at that time.  We will discuss in class the possibilities for another Subjective test by Christmas.
Economics & Civics (Senior Social Studies)  ~ Now that you have one Objective and one Subjective test in "the bank" for this quarter, we will move on to an introduction to famous economists from world history.  Some of the concepts they gave us are pretty tough, so be ready for a detailed and complicated test.
Pink Floyd Fine Arts Class ~  See me if you need CDs to accomplish your tasks.  Course Mainpage
Sports Psychology ~  All students who have signed up for this course should get the preliminary studies done before their "target" season begins.  Start with the worksheet page, and proceed to answer the questions you choose from it.  You need to get back to me after completing sections 6, 7, 8, and 9 BEFORE your sport begins practices.  That means that you need to get moving SOON!   Course Mainpage.
Student Council ~ Get ready to construct some useful service projects, then be preparing for Catholic Schools' Week activities.
Model United Nations ~ Tentatively planning to head for Duke in February.
Webpage Development ~ Now in the hands of the Diocese.
