Blade :Trinity

Directed by
David S. Goyer
For years, Blade has
fought against the vampires in the cover of night, with the world above
unaware of the brutal ongoing war. In Blade he fought a group of eager
vampires wanting total domination of not only the human world but the
vampire world as well, led by Deacon Frost, And in Blade 2 he’s asked to
help the vampire world defeat a force even the vampires are afraid of. It
seems that one of the elder vampires has created a super vampire by
experimenting on his son Nomak. Helpless, a group known as the “blood pack”
seeks out Blades’ expertise. Which now leaves us with the latest installment
in what may very well be one of the coolest comics on the market today.
BLADE: TRINITY starts
out as Blade is doing what he does best; HUNT! As he and whistler (Kristoffserson)
hook up once again they chase would be familiars through the streets, only
to realize one that Blade has just killed is human. Realizing he’s been set
up, now Blade must not only continue his quest, but now, he must ward off
any annoying police as well. As the police infiltrate his dwelling things
get out of hand and Whistler is killed and Blade taken into custody. What
seems to be the end for Blade turns out to be the beginning of his new
journey. This is where we are introduced to Whistlers daughter Abigail
(Jessica Biel) and her friend Hannibal (Ryan Reynolds).
It seems that the whole
conspiracy against Blade is when a group of misfit vamps exhume the corpse
of what is believed to be the body of Dracula. Hoping to use him as a tool
to destroy Blade and jump-start their new virus. This time they’re working
on a virus that will allow them to become day walkers like Blade.
Being a huge Blade fan and have seen both of the
previous two flicks in this series, as well as read the majority of the
comic books it was based on, I must say that all in all I was let down with
this one. Don’t get me wrong! The excellent fighting scenes complimented by
perfect music are still with this franchise and execute to the “T”. The
fight choreography does pick up where it left off and kicks your ass hard
and fierce. The acting was really good, led by Wesley Snipes of course as
Blade; Jessica Biel who surprisingly looks hot and mean as Whistlers’
daughter. I was really impressed with her performance in this one. With TCM
I felt as if maybe her place in the horror world wasn’t there, that maybe
she didn’t have it in her. She proved me wrong with this one. She was
excellent and executed the emotions needed to successfully implement her as
the disgruntled teen, seeking closure. BLADE: TRINITY also marks the acting
debut for
Paul "HHH" Levesque
of the wrestling world. Parker Posey was as every bit lovely and “bitchy” as
she is.
I guess my problem with
this movie is that it has too many holes and not as much heart. What
happened to the girl??? Remember the little girl?? Where did she go? As this
little girl’s mother is killed by Dracula and her taken hostage, once the
battle is complete, you just never see her.. Where did she go? That’s the
kind of crap I’m talking about. But I believe the biggest downfall this
movie has is it’s portrayal of Dracula. Some would criticize him running
from Blade from the get go. That was merely a test to see how Blade would
react. I don’t really feel that had anything to do with the downfall of this
movie. I just feel like the devotion and love for the topic wasn’t present
in this one. It’s almost as if they rushed this one, just to get something
out. I was fairly disappointed with this one , yet enjoyed it as well. So
maybe I should give it another watch before I can fully judge it.
