Feast

Directed by John Gulager

Last night we were asked to attend a private screening of the new movie FEAST thanks to Loyd Cryer of Texas Frightmare Weekend.! Of course we accepted and rolled out for what ended up being an excellent night to catch a good gory ass flick. If youve recently picked up the new Fango and checked out the article youd know its full of effin blood.and some mad wicked monsters. Lets go back shall we and try to explain the plot of this movie if we can.

As were introduced to our ensemble of characters hanging out in a local bar, ala KILL BILL, PULP FICTION etcdirector John Gulager begins to pry into the lives of a handful of oddball characters. As we get a pretty good idea of who these people are a bloodied up man runs in flailing a gun and shouting orders. Theres something out there and hes here to save their ass,; only for about 10 seconds as hes ripped through the window and eaten shortly after in runs in his wife to explain the ordeal they are now in. As the movie goes on the characters open up more and we see a little more about what makes them tick. What they dont know is very few of them will be leaving the bar on this nite.

If this seems like a short review, thats because the plot itself doesnt make a whole lot of sense. I read in Fango that these were supposed to be a desert dwelling creature thats survived there for thousands of years, but I dont get where this was explained anywhere in the story. The story itself is a good concept and achieves its purpose on making you go Holy shit!!, yet it doesnt explain the creatures enough in my opinion. The gore and effects in this are phenomenal. The big guns have been dropped and no holds barred as FEAST offers up some primo leg amputations, head smashings and some superb flesh decomposition. Headed up by one hell of a cast line-up including Balthazar Getty as the opunk ass hoodlum, Henry Rollins as some some sort of religious zealot( my favorite character in the movie) and Duane Whittaker is The Boss man. FEAST is one cool ass movie to watch. For those of you pondering seeing this when it comes out.Id highly recommend it . Its got plenty of story, just the right amount of comedic flair; yet doesnt overpower and blood and guts to appease anyone. If anything the creatures and kill scenes are worth the admission. One impressive side note that needs mentioning is the fact the FEAST was the contest winner of the Project Greenlight contests.and look where it is now. Hows that for sticking with your dreams??? FEAST is cool people. See it when it comes out.
