RISE
AND WALK

I received this book from Author,
Gregory Solis a few months back and just got the time to set and read it.
I’ve never been much of a zombie enthusiast in any form. To me the majority
of the zombie stories all follow suit set by Romero in the 60s. Well it’s
now 2008! Times change and so should most of everything else. Why can’t the
way we look at zombies be changed as well? Just within the past couple of
years it’s seemed that Steve Niles version shown as one of the ABC hit
series Fear Itself episodes captured something a little out of the norm. I
think it’s safe to say that Solis tale of zombies should be touted in that
small group or visionaries.
RISE AND WALK is a nice little
zombie tale that takes place during a paintball competition in a little one
horsed town. The majority of the story is revolved around two friends Jack
Mason and Tony, thrill seeking visitors from afar, who are players during
the competition. They meet up with two brave young women Nikki and Veronica
for a terror filled struggle against the undead. Low on ammunition and
supplies, the survivors use anything at hand to fight off the flesh hungry
horde, including shoving nails and sharp objects into 12 gauge shells to be
used as deadly shrapnel. As the party makes their escape way up into the
mountains they soon realize that there is nowhere to run when the dead Rise
and Walk
Through the fist 6 to 8 chapters
we’re introduced to a lot of genuine characters, some you even gain emotions
for, only to see them die at the end of the chapter. This was beginning to
make me a little perturbed. It seemed to become a commonplace end to the
chapter. The nice thing is these people you now love come back as one of the
undead. Once the introductions are out of the way we get to some damn fine
musings. I really enjoyed reading this novel. I generally try to allow a
couple of hours a night to reading on a novel I receive but some extend that
time allot and thus was the case for RISE AND WALK. Once I picked it up I
just couldn’t put it down. Necroscopic Unlimited highly recommends RISE AND
WALK for anyone who enjoys reading a good thriller mashed with horror. Keep
in mind. RISE AND WALK ascends your normal horror tag with some outright
excellent suspense. If you only read a few books this year make sure this is
one of them.
