The 2009 Cub Scout Soap Box Derby is just around the bend. This year we really want to see MORE teams compete from different area Cub Packs. We want also encourage anyone who would like to build a car and compete, to do so. We have an open class that just states no power other than gravity.

	2008 Soap Box Derby Photo Gallery click above link It seemed everyone took thier racers up a notch this year. We saw alot more wheel bearing wheels. Some metal chassis components. Caliper pull brakes and more.

	Soap Box Derby Hummer Build 2008 This year Den 3 wanted to build a Hummer. We knew it might not be the fastest desighn but it was exactly what the boys voted to build. We went totally for looks and still the team was the 3rd fastest built car, with last years car coming in a solid 4th. I was very surprised the big bulkier Hummer beat the #3 from 2007. Last year it was the fastest car in the race. This video is of the Hummer Build.

Racer #3 Build 2007

The annual Homecoming Soap Box Derby is one of our Den's favorite events. Here is a video we made from 2007. Our Den built the fastest car last year. We have been asked about how and what we used. So in the spirit of scouting we want to share our build plans with everyone.

History 1934 - 1951

I thought it would be cool to find you some more info on the histroy of the Soap Box Derby races that started in 1934. It is a really cool look back at 74 years ago when the Soap Box Derby began. My favorite quote is Jimmy Stewart saying "..Grown ups came to see a thing of wood and wheels and work, that became a dream..." Plywood Pioneers.
