Patricia Dolan holds
a Bachelors of Sacred Music from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She
studied piano with Denis Moffat, himself a student of Nadia Boulanger.
The emphasis on choral conducting and hymn playing prepared her to be
a church musician.
Concurrently, Patricia
earned a degree in piano performance from The American Conservatory
of Music in Chicago where she studied with Denis Moffat as well as William
Browning, accompanist of Sherrill Milnes and other notable vocalists.
She also had the honor of studying harmony, counterpoint, form and analysis,
and composition with Stella Roberts.
Patricia has taught
in Chicago, San Diego, Atlanta, Austin, Cincinnati and Baton Rouge.
Her students have successfully participated in recitals, festivals,
contests, and programs of evaluation. The teaching approaches and range
of music she has observed around the country have enriched her own teaching.
And while raising four children to young adulthood, God has blessed
her with some wisdom, patience and compassion - essential elements of
good teaching.
As church musician
Patricia has conducted children, youth and adult choirs, served as worship
service accompanist, and had the privilege of playing for weddings,
funerals and other special engagements.
As school educator
Patricia has taught graded music programs for private schools, theory,
handchimes, and choirs at all levels.
