I have been reviewing a wonderful work entitled: Property Lines from an Old Survey Book, Halifax County, Virginia 1741-1901. I am posting the following information in the event someone else is researching the Phelps Family from Virginia. More to follow:

4 April 1770 John Phelps recovered by General Court decree 1900 acs on Terrible Creek, west of Liberty, Virginia. The land was received by Thomas Ferguson on 30 Jan 1770 and was originally purchased by William Jones in Oct 1753.
