Coast man-root   /   Wild cucumber

Manroot is found wherever there is alder, red elderberry, salmonberry or thimbleberry to climb.  In summer, man-root vines twine quickly onto shrubs, tree trunks and lower branches, clothing them in lush green.  By winter, they die back to a large tuber just below the soil.
