Vegetation along the Rim Trail
in
Patrick's Point State Park
Red alder (Alnus rubra), a deciduous tree, dominates the tree layer along the much of Rim Trail in Patrick's Point State Park. Beneath the alder canopy are deciduous shrubs such as red elderberry (Sambucus callicarpa) [lower left] and salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) [lower right].
Also notable in Patrick's Point State Park is the Octopus Trees Grove with its old-growth Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis), as well as the scrub vegetation on the ocean bluffs.
