Marriage Agreement for Joseph Preast and Sarah Eads - 1799
Know all Men by these presents, that we, Joseph Preast and Edward Eads, are held and firmly
bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, for the
payment where of, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators,
jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed and dated this 15th November 1799.
The condition of the above obligation is suh, that where as there
is a marriage shortly intended to be had
and solemnized between the above bound Joseph Preast and Sarah Eads. Now if there shall be no lawful
cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
