            1755 - HENRY PREECE - ENGLAND - In Shropshire Court in Summer - 1755 Henry Preece was sentenced

                        to death for theft.  At Lent 1756 he was reprieved, and sentenced to transportation to the colonies for

                        14 years service.

           

            1755 - SARAH PREECE - ENGLAND - Also at Shropsire in Summer 1755 - Sarah Preece was sentenced

                        to transportation for 14 years service for receiving from Henry Preece goods stolen at Bridgenorth.

            1757 - HENRY PRIEST - MARYLAND - In the Maryland Gazette (Annapolis) issues of 15 August and

                        15 September 1757, Henry Coursey of Queen's Town (in Queen Anne County), reported the

                        following runaway servants:              Henry Priest from the West of England, a shoemaker:

                        Richard Morris from Bristol, England, a shoemaker: and William Cotney from Bristol, England. 

                        Morris was servant to Peter Maxwell: Cotney was servant to Anthony McCulloch. 

                          (The three servants ran away together).

                        in Capt Thomas Watts Company, legatees:  1/2 of his estate to Eleanor Priest, his sister, she is wife of

                        William Priest,  her legacy is not to be under the direction of her husband ; other legatees are

                        his nephews, Thomas Fields and John Fields, sons of his brothers,  (May or may not be relative)

                        William and John Fields.

                         waters of Glade Creek. (This was part of the 173 acres that Preas was holding for the benefit of

                        Rebecca (Preas) Baker who is now dead.  Rebecca's children were William Baker: Harriet Basham,

                        Elizabeth Fouts: and Rhoda Blankenship. [Comment: I am reasonably certain that the 16        acres should

                         read 61 acres)

                        request was disapproved. But, it looks like he Re-applied and was awarded his pension on 30 June 1897

                         and in 1900.  He did serve in the Confederate Army - 34th Regiment, Co. H.

            1900 - NATHANIEL THOMAS PREAS - Application for Confederate Pension signed 17 April 1900.

                        We never found that he served in the Confederacy or the Civil War.  But there was a Civilian held

                        at a Prisoner of War Camp, Camp Chase, Ohio by the name of Thomas Preas.  He was missing a leg

                        and it is thought that he could get a little compensation for his injury saying he lost in in the Civil War. 

                        Several family members state that he lost it in a Logging Accident.  He also files again in 1902.

                        This looks to be a continuation from his application presented in 1900 and it was authorized at this time.

                         There is no current record that Nathaniel ever served in the Civil War.  But, there was a Civilian held as

                        a Prisoner of War in Camp Chase, Ohio by the name of Thomas.  Could it be the same one?

            1992 - GEORGE PREAS - Roanoke FCA Chapter to Honor George Preas - Former

                        standout at Jefferson High School, Virginia Tech, and Baltimore Colts.  Preas won all state honors in

                        football and wrestling at Jefferson and all-state, All-Southern and All-american honors at Tech.  He

                        was regular offensive tackle with Colts from 1955 thru 1965 season.  He was voted "unsung hero" by

                        his coaches and team-mates after the Colts' sudden-death win over the New Yourk Giants in World

                        Championship playoff game in 1957.
