George Harvey Preas and Joel "James" Robert Preas
1851 - 1919 1858 - 1936
These two pictures are of the same two brothers, one in their younger days, the other many years later. The Dates and location
of these pictures is unknown. They are brothers of Joseph Nathaniel Preas and John Henry Preas. This is such a wonderful
comparison between the two men. ****These pictures were donated by John Hood with great thanks from the family****
George stayed in the area of Bedford County, Virginia while Joel left with John Henry on the Preas Migration to Texas in the early
1880's. My records show that Robert was born as Joel Robert, but also used the name of James. Their father was Joseph Preas Jr.
and they were brothers to John Henry Preas. ********To donate pictures please e-mail jrpreas@suddenlink.net
Photo taken 1909, Foutz School House, Bedford County, VA. This one room
schoolhouse was built by Daniel Foutz, sometime in the
mid 1800's. It was located very near the home of Joseph and Mahala Preas.
The school teacher, Sam Dooley, is the man with the beard
on the very left. Daniel Fouts was the son-in-law to John Buford, the innkeeper. When John died, he left Daniel and Polly Buford Fouts
a large amount of land and money, from which the school was eventually built. Photo courtesy of Atlas Beard Farris
