Marriage Agreement for Joseph Preas, Jr. and Mahala Parker - 1835
Know all men by those present that we, Joseph Preas Jr. and Mahalia William S. Parker, are held and firmly
bound unto Littleton W. Tazewell Esqr., Governor or Chief Magistrate of this Commonwealth of Virginia (execute)
the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars current money of Virginia to the payment where of were and truly to be
made to the said governor or his successor in office we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs
executor and administrators jointly and sevarally firmly by those presents. Sealed with our seals dated this 3rd day
of August 1835. The condition of their above obligation is such that where as there is a marriage shortly intended
to
be had and solemnized between the above bound Joseph Preas Jr. and Mahala Parker.
If there be no legal cause to obstruct the same thru
the above obligation to be valid or else to remain in full force and virtue.
