This Thomas Preas, a "Citizen" from Botetourt County, Virginia, was Captured on November 8, 1863, in Allegheny County, Virginia
This Thomas Preas was released from the Camp Chase, Ohio Prisoner of War Camp on 13 February 1864 - see last name with arrow.
Again, we do not know if this is the "Nathaniel Thomas Preas" who applied for a Confederate Pension, but it sure looks like it might be. The stories of a "Nathaniel Preas" leaving home for a long spell and coming home with a missing leg, saying he had lost it in the War. If he was shot or injured his leg, it could have very well gotten infected while at the POW Camp and the leg amputated. There are several sites on the internet that describe the horrible conditions at POW Camp Chase, Ohio. If you are interested, please read one or two of the accounts.
