Marriage Agreement for Henry Baker and Rebecca Preast - 1799
Know all men by these presents that we, Henry Baker and Thomas Preast, are held and firmly bound unto
James Wood esquire, Governor or Chief Magistrate of the State of Virginia in the sum of one hundred and
fifty dollars to which payment well and truly to be made to the said James Wood unto his successor we bind
ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly
by
these presents.
Sealed with our seals and dated the 20th day of March 1799.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and
solemnized
between the above bound Henry Baker and
Rebecca Preast.
Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void else to
remain
in full force and virtue.
