Marriage agreement for William Preas and Mary Jane Bond - 1850


        Know all men by these presents, that we, William Preas, and William I. Bond are held and firmly bound unto the

        Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, for the payment whereof, well and truly to

        be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and sevarally, firmly by these present,

        sealed and dated this 20th day of December 1850.

 

        The condition of the above obligation is such, that where as there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and

        solemnized between the above bound William Preas and Mary Jane bond.

 

        Now, if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, or else to remain

        in full force and virtue.

        This is to entify to the Clerk of Bedford County Court that William Priest is permitted to get license to marry

            my daughter Mary Jane.
