Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all to whom these whose presents shall come,
Greetings. Know ye, that by virtue of a certificate un right of settlement given by the Commissioners for adjusting the
Titles to unpatented Lands in the District of Washington and Montgomery Counties and in Consideration of the Ancient
Composition of one pound ten Shillings Sterling paid by William Priest unto the Treasury of this Commonwealth
there is Granted by the said Commonwealth, unto the said William Priest a certain Grant or parcel of Land containing
three hundred Acres By survey bearing date the Seventh day of November one Thousand seven hundred and Eight three
Lying and being in the County of Washington on the nead (near?) waters of Trading Creek a Branch of Powells River
and Bounded as followeth, To Wit,
Beginning on the South side of the Poar (Poor?) Valley ridge at a Beach gum and Hickory corner to Joseph Martins
Sand and with a line thereof South eight degrees East on hundred and sixty poles to a Taipple(?) chesnut on the Top of
a Spur un once leaving said line North sixty one degrees East sixty nine poles to a white oak and crooked chesnut on the
North side of a hill North Eighty two Degrees East two hundred and sixty poles to pointers in a gap of the Knobs(?)
North Eight degrees West one hundred and Sixty poles to a stake on the Top of the Poor Valley ridge and along the same
South Seventy seven degrees West three hundred and thirty poles to the Beginning. With its appurtenances; To have and
to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said William Priest and his Heirs forever.
In Witness whereor the said Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his
Hand, and Caused the lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the fifth day of July in the
year of our Lord, on Thousand seven hundred and Eighty Five and of the Commonwealth the Tenth.
