Define Naughty












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 12/05/08 using PSP 9. Any version of PSP should work.

1. Open a 700x700 transparent frame. This will be your working graphic.

2. Select a background paper from your kit that compliments your tube. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Paper07.jpg. Copy and paste the paper into your working graphic.

3. Open the mask: Kirsty08-Mask-5-Feb08.jpg from your supplies zip.

4. Apply the mask to your background paper. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > INVERT MASK DATA > FIND IN DROP DOWN MENU > OK > Merge Group.

5. Resize your masked layer to 85% of the original size. (Be sure to only resize the masked layer and not the entire working graphic.) Position in the upper righthand corner area.

6. Select a second background paper from your kit. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Paper14.jpg. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer.

7. Open the mask: Kirsty06_Mask_14.jpg from your supplies zip.

8. Apply the mask to your background paper. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > INVERT MASK DATA >FIND IN DROP DOWN MENU > OK > Merge Group.

9. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=82, Blur=2, Color=#000000

10. Open a third complimenting background paper from your kit. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Paper26.jpg. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer.

11. Open the mask: Kirsty07_MaskNewDec-8.jpg from your supplies zip.

12. Apply the mask to your background paper. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > INVERT MASK DATA >FIND IN DROP DOWN MENU > OK > Merge Group.

13. Resize your masked layer to 85% of the original size. (Be sure to only resize the masked layer and not the entire working graphic.) Position in the lower lefthand corner area.

14. Add noise to the TOP MASKED layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=40.

15. Add noise to the SECOND MASKED layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=40.

16. Add noise to the BOTTOM MASKED layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=40.

17. Merge visible layers. Resize only the masked layers to 85% of original size.

18. Resize the entire working graphic to 575x575 pixels. Position your masked layers toward the top of the working graphic.

19. Sharpen if needed.



20. Merge flatten.

21. Open a frame from your scrap kit. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Frame06.png. Resize to 350x350 pixels.

22. Copy and paste the frame into your working graphic as the new top layer.

23. Position to your liking. I moved mine slightly right and down to leave the other shapes visible.

24. Open the file QBD_StockXchng_DefineGood.jpg from your supplies zip.

25. Copy and paste the Santa photo into a new layer under your frame. Resize the photo to 70% of the original size.



26. Go to your frame layer. With your magic wand highlight the area inside the frame.

27. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND > 10 PIXELS.

28. Go to SELECTIONS > INVERT.

29. Go to the Santa photo layer and click delete.

30. Go to your frame layer and add a drop shadow. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=82, Blur=17.82, Color=#000000

31. Merge the frame and Santa layer together. Resize the Santa/Frame layer by 85%.

32. Copy and paste your chosen tube into your working graphic as the new top layer. Resize as desired. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=82, Blur=17.82, Color=#000000

33. Open the file QBD_BearyChristmas_WordArt04.png from the scrap kit. Resize to 400x200 pixels. Copy and paste into your working graphic.

34. Using your Eye Candy Gradient plug-in add a gradient glow to the word art as pictured here:



35. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=90, Blur=3, Color=#000000

36. Open two of your snowflakes from the kit. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Snowflake04.png and QBD_BearyChristmas_Snowflake02.png. Resize to 25% of the original size.

37. Copy and paste each one into your working graphic as a new layer under your frame layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=54, Blur=7.92, Color=#000000 Merge the two snowflakes into one layer.

38. Open a bow from your scrap kit. I used: QBD_BearyChristmas_Bow02.png. Resize to 200x223 pixels.

39. Copy and paste into your working graphic on top of the frame layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=54, Blur=7.92, Color=#000000

40. Add your copyright info and watermark/logo to your tag.

41. Add your name to the graphic on the snowflake layer. I used:
Create as: Floating
Font: Write Now
Size: 72
Stroke: 1.0
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Foreground color: #000000
Background color: #3d3d6f


42. Add a gradient glow to your name using Eye Candy as you did in step 34.

43. Add a drop shadow of: vertical=1, horizontal=1, Opacity=54, Blur=7.92, Color=#000000

44. Add Noise to your snowflake/name layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

45. Add Noise to your word art layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

46. Copy merged and paste as a new image. This is your new working graphic.

47. Go to EDIT > UNDO NOISE

48. Go to EDIT > UNDO LAYER SELECTION

49. Go to EDIT > UNDO NOISE

50. Add Noise to your snowflake/name layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

51. Add Noise to your word art layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

52. Copy merged and paste as a new layer into your new working graphic.

53. Go to EDIT > UNDO NOISE

54. Go to EDIT > UNDO LAYER SELECTION

55. Go to EDIT > UNDO NOISE

56. Add Noise to your snowflake/name layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

57. Add Noise to your word art layer. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=60.

58. Copy merged and paste as a new layer into your new working graphic.

59. Save your new three-layered working graphic to an easy to find place on your harddrive.

60. Open Animation Shop.

61. Open your working graphic in animation shop. Adjust the speed of your frames if you want.

62. Save as a .gif file.
