Divalicious Fairy












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 05/09/2009 using PSP 9. Any version of PSP should work.

It is an intermediate tutorial.

I'm using the artwork of Elias Chatzoudis of www.elias-design.gr. The tube and license can be purchased at MyPSPTubes.com.

The scrap kit used in this tutorial is "Divalicious" and can be purchase at my store here.

Any resemblance to any other tutorial is strictly coincidental.

Supplies Needed:
PSP program of your choice (Free trial version PSP12 here.)
Animation Shop (Download Free trial version here.)
Tube of your choice
Font of your Choice
Scrap kit of choice

1. Open a 700x700 pixel transparent frame. This will be your working graphic.

2. Open the frame: QBD_Divalicious_Frame03.png in your scrap kit.

3. Resize the frame to 450x449 pixels.

4. Copy and paste it into your working graphic.

5. Open the frame: QBD_Divalicious_Frame04.png in your scrap kit.

6. Resize the frame to 425x424 pixels.

7. Copy and paste it as a new layer into your working graphic. Center over your black frame.

8. Merge the two frames into one layer.

9. Move the frame toward the top of your working graphic.

10. Open a paper from your scrap kit. I used: QBD_Divalicious_Paper02.jpg.

11. With your magic wand highlight the area inside of your merged frames.

12. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND=15 PIXELS.

13. Add a new raster layer and move it under your frame layer.

14. Flood fill the highlighted area of your new layer with your paper. Deselect.

15. Open another paper from your kit. I used: QBD_Divalicious_Paper12.jpg.

16. Add a new raster layer and send it to the bottom. Flood fill this layer with your paper.

17. Open the mask BeckyMask_034 in your supplies zip.

18. Apply the mask to your paper. LAYERS > NEW MASK LAYER > FROM IMAGE > SOURCE LUMINANCE > LOCATE IN DROP DOWN > CLICK OKAY.

19. Merge the masked group and move upward so that part of it is showing at the top of your frame.

20. Go back to your frame layer and add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

21. Open the blue and green daisies in your kit. (QBD_Divalicious_Flower03.png and QBD_Divalicious_Flower04.png)

22. Copy and paste the full size blue flower as a new layer on top of your masked layer. Position 11 o'clock position with about half of the flower showing. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

23. Copy and paste the full size green flower as a new layer on top of your masked layer. Position 9 o'clock position with about half of the flower showing. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

24. Resize the green flower to 200x202 pixels. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position at the 5 o'clock position. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

25. Resize the blue flower to 160x162 pixels. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position at the 4 o'clock position. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

26. Duplicate the blue flower layer. Mirror the image and move it to the 7 o'clock position.

27. Open one of the glitter swirls in your kit. I used: QBD_Divalicious_Swirl03.png.

28. Resize the swirl to 194x400 pixels.

29. Copy and paste it into your working graphic on top of the masked layer. Position to the top right of your graphic with part under the frame. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

30. Open one of the tags from the kit. I used: QBD_Divalicious_Tag08.png. Resize it to 250x91 pixels.

31. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer. Rotate 20 degrees to the left. Position at the 11 o'clock position. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

32. Open your tube of choice. I used the beautiful fairy tube Nora by Elias Chatzoudis.

33. Copy and paste your tube into your working graphic as the new top layer. vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:15.84 , color: #000000

34. Add a new raster layer and send it to the bottom. Flood fill it with #FFFFFF or color of your choice for the background.

35. Go to the layer just under your tube layer and add your name. I used these settings:
Create as: Vector
Font: CK Tipsy
Size: 72
Stroke: 2.0
Font style: BOLD
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Kerning: 0
Foreground: #000000
Background: #34b9f0


36. Convert to raster layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical:1 , horizontal:1 , opacity:62 , blur:2.0 , color: #000000

37. Resize to the size you desire.

38. Add your copyright information and your logo/watermark.

39. For non-animated version merge all and save. For animated version skip to the next step.

40. Go to your tube layer. Duplicate to three layers.

41. Using your freehand selection tool carefully highlight the wings on your fairy.

42. Go to your first fairy layer and add noise. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=35

43. Go to your second fairy layer and add noise. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=35

44. Go to your third fairy layer and add noise. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=35

45. Turn the visibility off on fairy layer two and three.

46. Copy merged and paste as a new image. This will be your new working graphic.

47. Turn the visibility off on layer one and on on layer two.

48. Copy merged and paste as a new layer into your new working graphic.

49. Turn the visibility off on layer two and on on layer three.

50. Copy merged and paste as a new layer into your new working graphic.

51. Go to your new working graphic.

52. Using your magic wand highlight the inside area of your name.

53. Go to each layer and add noise to your name. ADJUST > ADD/REMOVE NOISE > ADD NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=35

54. Save your working graphic to an easy to locate area of your harddrive.

55. Open Animation shop.

56. Open your working graphic in animation shop.

57. Adjust the frame speed to your liking.

58. Save as a .gif image.
