Fairy Christmas












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 11/11/2008 using PSP 9 and Animation Shop. Any version of PSP should work.

It is an intermediate tutorial. You will need a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation shop.

I'm using the artwork of Moshilove of www.andreaaleart.com.ar. This tube was part of the 2008 MPT Christmas present to it's customers and is not for sale on the site. If you did not receive the MPT gift pack you may purchase some of Moshilove's other work for this tutorial and a license to use his work from www.MyPSPTubes.com

Supplies Needed
PSP program of your choice (Free trial version PSP12 here.)
Animation Shop (Trial version here.)
Tube of your choice.
Scrap kit of your choice.
One Script Font of your choice

(Your pop up stoppers will need to be turned off if you click the link and nothing happens.)

1. Open the QBD_SnowflakeMask_07.png file in PSP. Drop it down for later use.

2. Open the file QBD_SnowLayersCircle-LG.pspimage from your supplies zip. This will be your working graphic.

3. Open a paper from your kit. I used: QBD_ElegantSilver_Paper06.jpg

4. Copy and paste your paper as a new layer into your working graphic. Send to the bottom.

5. Go to Layers > New mask layer > From image > Find the QBD_SnowflakeMask_07.png in the drop down box > Source Opacity ON > OK. Go to Layers > Merge > Merge Group.

6. Add New Raster Layer named BGD and send to BOTTOM.

7. Flood fill this layer with white.

8. Merge your masked layer into your white flood fill layer.

9. Open two co-ordinating bling files from your kit. I used: QBD_ElegantSilver_Bling01.png and QBD_ElegantSilver_Bling02.png.

10. Resize one of the bling files to 328x600 pixels.

11. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top layer. Position on the right side of the working graphic.

12. Duplicate the bling layer and mirror the image. Merge the two bling layers. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 4.95, Color: #000000

13. Resize the second bling file to 191x350 pixels.

14. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top layer. Position on the right side of the working graphic. Duplicate the bling layer and mirror the image. Merge the two bling layers. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 4.95, Color: #000000 Merge the two bling layers.



15. Resize your working graphic to 575x575 pixels.

16. Open one of the ornaments from the kit. I used: QBD_ElegantSilver_Ornament01.png. Resize the ornament to 270x420 pixels.

17. Copy and paste the ornament into your working graphic as the new top layer. Rotate 25 degrees to the right. Sharpen as necesssary. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 10.89, Color: #000000.

18. Open your tube.

19. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the new top layer. Position as if setting on the ornament. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 4.95, Color: #000000.

20. Resize your working graphic to 525x525 pixels.

21. Increase your canvas size to 525x575 pixels by adding 50 pixels to the bottom.



22. Add a new raster layer. Send to the bottom. Flood fill with #FFFFFF.

23. Merge your former bottom layer to the new white flood fill layer.

24. Open the file QBD_OrnamentHook.psd from your supplies zip file. Resize to 50% of the original file size.

25. Copy and paste the ornament hook into your working graphic as a new layer. Flip the hook. Rotate it 35 degrees left.

26. Turn the visibility off on your tube layer.

27. Zoom in on the part of your graphic where the hook connects to the ornament.

28. Position your hook to make it appear as it is hanging from the ornament.

29. With your freehand selection tool carefully remove the right side of the hook where it crosses with the ornament hanger.



30. Add a drop shadow to your hook of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 4.95, Color: #000000.

31. Turn visibility back on on your tube layer.

32. Merge the hook and the ornament. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 15.84, Color: #000000.

33. Add your copyright information and your logo/watermark.

34. Add your name/text as desired to the same layer as your tube. I used the following settings:
Create as: Floating
Font: PrintsCharming
Size: 96
Stroke: 1.5
Font style: BOLD
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Leading: -0.100
Kerning: -25
Foreground and Background color: #FFFFFF


Add a drop shadow to your hook of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 59, Blur: 4.95, Color: #000000.

35. Using your freehand selection tool highlight the wings on your fairy. Highlight your name/text also with your freehand selection tool.



36. Go to SELECT > FLOAT.



37. Go to ADJUST > NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=55

38. Deselect.

39. Copy Merged and paste as a new image. This is your new working graphic.

40. Go back to your original working graphic.

41. Go to EDIT > UNDO SELECT NONE.

42. Go to EDIT > UNDO ADD NOISE.

43. Turn visibility for snow layer 1 off and turn snow layer 2 on.

44. Go to ADJUST > NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=55

45. Deselect.

46. Copy Merged and paste into your new working image as a new layer.

47. Go back to your original working graphic.

48. Go to EDIT > UNDO SELECT NONE.

49. Go to EDIT > UNDO ADD NOISE.

50. Turn visibility for snow layer 2 off and turn snow layer 3 on.

51. Go to ADJUST > NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=55

52. Deselect.

53. Copy Merged and paste into your new working image as a new layer.

54. Go back to your original working graphic.

55. Go to EDIT > UNDO SELECT NONE.

56. Go to EDIT > UNDO ADD NOISE.

57. Turn visibility for snow layer 3 off and turn snow layer 4 on.

58. Go to ADJUST > NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=55

59. Deselect.

60. Copy Merged and paste into your new working image as a new layer.

61. Go back to your original working graphic.

62. Go to EDIT > UNDO SELECT NONE.

63. Go to EDIT > UNDO ADD NOISE.

64. Turn visibility for snow layer 4 off and turn snow layer 5 on.

65. Go to ADJUST > NOISE > GAUSSIAN > MONOCHROME > NOISE=55

66. Deselect.

67. Copy Merged and paste into your new working image as a new layer.

68. You should now have 5 layers in your new working graphic.

69. Save to an easily access area of your harddrive.

70. Open animation shop.

71. Open your working graphic in animation shop.

72. Go to EDIT > SELECT ALL.

73. Go to ANIMATION > FRAME PROPERTIES > SET TO 15fps.

74. Save as a .gif file.
