I Love Rock 'N' Roll












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 10/10/2008 using PSP 9 and Animation Shop. Any version of PSP should work.

It is an intermediate tutorial. You will need a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation shop.

Do not copy this tutorial and post it through any group or claim it as your own. Please share a text link only to my site and not the tutorial itself when sharing. You may print it out for your own personal use ONLY.

I'm using the artwork of Elias Chatzoudis of www.elias-design.gr. You may purchase a license to use his work from www.MyPSPtubes.com.

I am also using one of my PTU scrap kits, "Emo Girl", which can be purchased at MyPSPTubes.com

Supplies Needed
PSP program of your choice (Free trial version PSP12 here.)
Animation Shop (Trial version here.)
One Tube.
Scrap kit of your choice.
Two Fonts of your choice. I used:
AdLib BT (You can purchase it here.)
The NautiGal (You can purchase it here.)

1. Open a 700x700 transparent frame. Hereafter this will be called your working graphic.

2. Open the QBD_ILoveRockNRoll_Template01.png found in the zip file.

3. Copy and paste it into your working graphic as a new layer. Position slightly off-center and to the top left. Duplicate the layer.



4. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_skull04.png from your kit.

5. Copy and paste into your working graphic on the top template layer. Place it at the top of the template file.

6. Apply the text "Rock 'N' Roll" (or whatever you would like it to say) underneath the skull
using these settings:
Create as: Floating
Font: AdLib BT
Size: 48
Stroke: 2
Font style: BOLD
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Leading: -0.2
Kerning: 0
Foreground: #808080
Background: #808080


7. Selections > Select All > Selections > Float > Selections > Modify > Contract =1.

8. Open the file QBD_ILoveRockNRoll_ChromeFill.jpg and floodfill the text. Deselect.

9. Selections > Select all > Selections > Float.

10. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical= -3
Horizontal= 3
Opacity= 39
Blur= 6.93
Shadow color= #000000


11. Merge all visible.

12. Save to an easily to locate area of your harddrive as a pspimage.

13. Open animation shop.

14. Open your saved working graphic in Animation Shop.

15. Select all.

16. Click Effects > Insert Image Transition > and use the following settings:
Transition Length: 1.2secs
Frames per second: 7fps
Effect: Slats


17. Click the customize button:
Number of slats: 30
Slat orientation: Vertical
Slat Movement: Right to Left


18. Click OK.



19. Go to Frame 1. Copy and paste frame 1 after your last frame.

20. Click on Frame 11 > Hold your "shift" key down and using your left arrow highlight Frame 10 also.

21. Click Effects > Insert Image Transition > and use the following settings:
Transition Length: 1.2secs
Frames per second: 7fps
Effect: Slats


22. Click the customize button:
Number of slats: 30
Slat orientation: Vertical
Slat Movement: Left to Right


23. Click OK.



24. Highlight frame 10. (This should be your skull frame with no slats.)

25. Click Animation > Frame Properties > 60.

26. Select all. Copy and paste the animation into your PSP program as a new image. This is your new working graphic.

27. For now turn off visibility to all layers except the frame 10 layer so you can use it for placement of the rest of your tag.

28. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_Frame02.png (or frame of your choice.)

29. Resize frame to 57% of the original file size. Sharpen as needed.

30. Copy and paste into your working graphic. Align frame and template graphic.

31. Selections > Select all > Selections > Float.

32. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical= -10
Horizontal= 10
Opacity= 62
Blur= 25.74
Shadow color= #000000


33. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical= 10
Horizontal= -10
Opacity= 35
Blur= 15.84
Shadow color= #000000


34. Deselect. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

35. Resize all layers to 80% of the original size.

36. Increase your canvas size to 700x700 adding equally to all sides of your graphic.

37. Open the two mask provided in your zip file OR choose two of your own. Drop these into your PSP tray.

38. Select a background from your kit. I used QBD_EmoGirl_paper02.jpg.

39. Copy and paste your background into your working graphic. Move to the bottom layer.

40. Apply the mask WSL_Mask180.jpg to your background.
Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image > find it in your dropdown menu > tic Souce luminance > OK.

41. Merge group.

42. Select a background from your kit. I used QBD_EmoGirl_paper06.jpg.

43. Copy and paste your background into your working graphic. Move to the bottom layer.

44. Apply the mask WSL_Mask167.jpg to your background.
Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image > find it in your dropdown menu > tic Souce luminance > OK.

45. Merge group.

46. Open your tube. Copy and paste as the top layer into your working graphic. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

47. Add a new raster layer and move to the bottom. Flood fill with #FFFFFF.

48. Open the file QBD_ILoveRockNRoll_MusicSheet01.png included in the zip file.

49. Resize to 80% of the original file size.

50. Copy and paste into your working graphic on top of the masked layers. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

51. Duplicate layer and rotate 25% degrees right. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

52. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_Swirl02.png from the scrap kit. Resize it to 70% of the original file size.

53. Copy and paste into your working grapic on top of your masked layers. Mirror the image and adjust positioning. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

54. Duplicate image. Flip and mirror the image. Rotate 25 degrees to the right and adjust the positioning. Sharpen as needed. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 61, Blur: 14.85, color: #000000

55. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_Bow05.png from the scrap kit. Resize to 70% of the original file size.

56. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top layer. Position to the left on the frame. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 91, Blur: 33.66, color: #000000

57. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_skullkeychain.png from the scrap kit. Resize to 70% of the original file size.

58. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top layer. Position on top of the bow dangling. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 91, Blur: 33.66, color: #000000

59. Open the file QBD_EmoGirl_Brad01.png from the scrap kit. Resize to 70% of the original file size.

58. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top layer. Position on top of the bow dangling. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 91, Blur: 33.66, color: #000000

59. Resize your working graphic to the size you desire.

60. Add your copyright information and your logo/watermark.

61. Add your name as the top layer of your working graphic.
Settings I used:
Create as: Vector
Font: TheNautiGal
Size: 84
Stroke: 1.0
Font Style: BOLD
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Foreground color: #000000
Background color: QBD_ILoveRockNRoll_GlitterTextFill01.png


62. Convert to Raster Layer.

63. Add a drop shadow of Vertical: 1, Horizontal: 1, Opactiy: 91, Blur: 33.66, color: #000000

64. Merge the top layers (6 layers) of the working graphic down to where the Frame layers start.

65. Merge the bottom layers (7 layers) starting with the music sheets down.

66. Turn off the visibility of Frame 10. Turn on the visibility of Frame 1.

67. Copy merged and paste as a new Image. This is now your working graphic.

68. Turn off visibility of layer 1 and turn on visibility of layer 2.

69. Copy Merged and Paste as New LAYER into the first merged frame you just did.

70. Turn off visibility of Layer 2 and turn on visibility of Layer 3.

71. Copy Merged and Paste as New LAYER into the first merged frame you just did.

72. Continue turning off visibility of previous frame and turning on the next until you do all 19 frames.

73. You should now have a new image with 19 frames.

74. Save your working graphic to an easily accessed place on your harddrive.

75. Open your working graphic in animation shop.

76. Select all. Go to Animation > Frame Properties > set to 15.

77. Select frame 10. Go to Animation > Frame Properties > set to 60.

78. Save as an animation.
