Spring Beauty












This tutorial was written by QueenBrat on 01/03/2009 using PSP 9. Any version of PSP should work.

The scrap kit used in this tutorial is "Breath of Spring" and can be purchased in my store here.

Supplies Needed:
PSP program of your choice (Free trial version PSP12 here.)
Tube of your choice
Font of your Choice


Provided supplies:

1. Open a 700x700 transparent frame. This will be your working graphic.

2. Open a cardboard paper from your kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Paper02.png.

3. Resize to 575x575 pixels.

4. Copy and paste into your working graphic. Rotate 10 degrees left. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

5. Open a second cardboard paper from your kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Paper13.png.

6. Resize to 575x575 pixels.

7. Copy and paste into your working graphic. Rotate 12 degrees right. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

8. Open a lace paper from your kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Paper08.png.

9. Resize to 575x575 pixels.

10. Copy and paste into your working graphic. Rotate 5 degrees right. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

11. Open a frame from the kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Frame03.png.

12. Resize frame to 500x503 pixels.

13. Copy and paste into your working graphic as the top frame.

14. Go back to the frame you opened and resize it to 350x352 pixels.

15. Copy and paste it into your working graphic under the first frame layer. Mirror the frame and move to the top left area.

16. Open the striped paper from the scrap kit. It's file: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Paper14.jpg.

17. Copy and paste the striped paper into your working graphic under both frame layers.

18. Go to your smaller frame layer.

19. With your magic wand highlight the area outside of the frame.



20. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND > 10 pixels.

21. Go back to the striped paper layer and click delete. Deselect.

22. Go to the smaller frame layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000 Merge down with the striped paper fill layer.

23. Go to the larger frame area. With your magic wand click the inner area of the frame.



24. Go to the smaller frame layer and click delete to remove the portion of the smaller frame that you can see.

25. Open your tube and copy and paste it into your working graphic as a new layer between the two frame layers.

26. Go to the large frame layer. With your magic wand highlight the outter area of the frame.

27. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND > 10 pixels.

28. Go back to your tube layer and click delete. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

29. Go to the larger frame layer. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000 Merge down with the tube layer.

30. Open one of the heatchains from the kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_HeartChain02.png.

31. Resize the heartchain to 152x350 pixels.

32. Copy and paste the heartchain into your working graphic as the top layer. Position top ring over the center of one of the flowers on the smaller frame.

33. Open one of the brads from the kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Brad03.png. Resize the brad to 35x34 pixels. Sharpen if needed.

34. Copy and paste the brad into your working graphic positioning it over the ring on the heartchain.

35. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000 Merge down with the heartchain layer.

36. Open the Eyelet Ribbon from the kit. Resize to 175x111 pixels.

37. Copy and paste into your working graphic on top of the large frame layer. Position overlapping the large frame on the left.

38. Rotate 15 degrees left. Using your magic wand highlight the area inside the eyelets.

39. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND > 3 pixels.

40. Go to each layer below the eyelet and click delete to open the holes.

41. Go back to the eyelet layer and add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

42. Add a second eyelet layer. Rotate 25 degrees left and move toward the top of the working graphic over the top of the small frame.

43. Go to SELECTIONS > MODIFY > EXPAND > 3 pixels.

44. Go to each layer below the eyelet and click delete to open the holes.

45. Go back to the eyelet layer and add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

46. Open the word art file: QB_WordArt_Beauty.psp from the supplies zip.

47. Pick a matching color from your working graphic and use your hue and saturation to recolor the word art.

48. Copy and paste your word art into the working graphic at the top right side. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

49. Open a bow from your kit. I used: QBD_BreathOfSpring_Bow07.png.

50. Resize the bow to 125x117 pixels.

51. Copy and paste the bow into your working graphic placing it at the top of the heart of the heartchain element. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

52. Resize to your desired size. I resized to 575x575.

53. Merge flatten.

54. Add your copyright info and your watermark/logo.

55. Add you name to your graphic. Here are the settings that I used:
Create As: Floating
Font: MeaCulpa
Size: 72
Stroke: 1.0
Font style: BOLD
Alignment: Center
Anti-alias: Smooth
Kerning: 0
Stroke: #7a110e
Fill: #e99842


56. Add a drop shadow of: vertical: 1, horizontal: 1, Opacity: 76, Blur: 13.86, Color: #000000

57. Save your file.
