This is my foray into an imagined film soundtrack. No specific visuals - no story to tell, just the music that might go behind one.

This is a slightly more eclectic mix of ambient/minimalist/instrumental songs (soundtrack-type tunes) than 2006's "Slumber" which was an album intended to help the listener fall asleep.

Drum loops, Irish tin whistle, electric guitar and Spanish-inflected classical guitar join my usual acoustic guitar beds on the new recording. The only human voice is that of Father Morgan White, priest of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Paris, Texas, reciting and chanting the Lord's Prayer in Latin (Pater Noster).

My son, Jonah, wrote and performed the chord progression for "Pater Noster."

The visual of film has always inspired me - even films not created, just scenes and images in my mind - to create music that would be great backdrop and ambience. It's the only type of music I've created where I feel like a true artist adding layers with no boundaries, no expectations, no worrying if people will understand the lyrics (because there are none). Crafting something is to take the usual tools and elements and make something out of them that is familiar. Art is creating something that hasn't existed before.

Ambient founding father Brian Eno (most known as a U2 producer) said: "Ambient Music is intended to induce calm and a space to think. Ambient Music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting."
