Bernese Mountain Dogs are working dogs and they always need a job to do. Obedience Training helps the Berners and all dogs do their jobs well and with Good Manners. It builds a special bond between the owner and dog.

AKC has several obedience titles you can earn. All dogs with good manners are capable of earning a CGC (Canine Good Citizen). The CD (Companion Dog) title is the next title they can earn. Then you can go on to earn a CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title, and UD (Utility Dog) title.
