Ruston police investigating armed robbery of international students

Ruston police are investigating a weekend armed robbery involving several international students at Louisiana Tech University.

Lt. Curtis Hawkins, public information officer, said police are searching for a black male, approximately six feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds.

The armed robbery was reported to police by four men at 9:01 p.m. Sunday.

The victims were at an apartment on South Homer Street when the suspect walked in armed with a handgun, police reports stated.

The suspect ordered all four men to the ground and then took personal items and money from three of the victims. The suspect then reportedly grabbed several electronic items from the apartment and left running in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.

“They are working with the infor-mation that has been given to us,” Hawkins said. “We are tracking down several leads.”

Hawkins said anyone with information about the crime should call Ruston police at 255-4141 or CrimeStoppers at 255-1111.

Crimestoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction.
