The family of a
Grambling State University student who has been missing for more than a week is
seeking information about her whereabouts.Michelle “Shelby” Orphalee McMullen, 27, of Harrisburg, Pa., was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 28 driving a black 2002 Honda Accord, license plate GMF-5010. According to information from her family, she was returning to GSU from Pennsylvania after dropping off her 6-year-old son to stay with family.
McMullen is a freshman majoring in Spanish at GSU. She has not used her cell phone or debit card since Sept. 28, according to her family, and none of her family members or friends has had contact with her since that day.
McMullen suffers from severe migraines, her father, Michael McMullen, said in a news release. The family believes her disappearance could be caused by a medical emergency.
Michelle McMullen is 5-feet, 3-inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds and has wavy hair.
She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
Grambling State officials say they have no reason to believe McMullen ever made it to Louisiana.
“I really have no idea on what happened other than it looks like she didn’t make it here,” GSU Police Chief Craig Nance said. “It’s hard to say what has happened because it didn’t occur in our jurisdiction.”
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call her family at 717-943-0098 or Ruston Police at 255-4141.
