Why were they staring at him?   What were they thinking?

 Was he that different since his return?   Did they know?  Suspect?

 

With hard-won control he hid his shaking hands in his pockets.

 

‘Good to see you Jack.”   Hammond said gently. 

 

“Thank you, Sir.”  Jack hated the tentative sound of his voice.

 

His ravaged body still betrayed him; treacherously wanting the

hated sarcophagus.

 

His even more ravaged mind betrayed him further, as Kanaan’s

eerie memories were now a part of him -- haunting him.

 

 For Jack, this was much worse than the many deaths Ba’al had inflicted.

 

 This was his secret Hell.
