  The patio was awash with sunshine -- a perfect Sunday afternoon.  

  “What’s a 7-letter word for ‘very hot’? “  Janet asked the

 two heads bowed over toenail polish.

  “O’NEILL”   

  “Sam!”   Janet exclaimed   

  “Oops that’s 6.  Sorry, just popped in.” 

  “Try again…”  (Not catching the mischievous grins between

 friend and daughter.)

  “COLONEL” Cassie chirped.   

  Janet chided,  “Casssieeee!!”  

  “She started it… and…he is!  All my friends think so.”  

 Cassie said unrepentant.  

  Sam placated, “We’re being silly.” 

   Janet replied, “More truth is said in jest…”

  Then a drawling voice from behind, surprised them, 

  “Try…. ‘SWELTER’ Doc.” before adding thoughtfully, “Sooo, I’m  hot…”
