Start by removing the fire unit from the cauldron, fairly easy to do by removing the plate on the bottom, but save the screws as you'll want to re-attach the plate. You can save the pot for other props especially because it has a readymade hole for a witch stirring a pot.
Wrap the unit with the light strands being careful to keep them out of the way of the fan blades. Be random and spread them from top to bottom. I used cable ties to pull them out of the way. Once you are happy, replace a bulb on one of strands with a flashing bulb.
Plug everything in and make sure everything is working like it is supposed to.
Next wrap the whole thing with the cellophane. I used just red, but a mix of red, yellow, or orange would work too. Don't worry, the fan will keep things cool. I crinkled mine up quite a bit and held it together with the ever handy scotch tape.
Now for the embellishment. I had a stack of small pine limbs for firewood that would work for a small bonfire. I cut them to length and fitted them around the flame unit. My idea was to wire them together so that I would just have to slip it on and light it up.
I found it difficult to wire it together, so I settled for numbering the pieces so that I could set up the prop with less effort. I plan on drilling each piece and threading the wire through the sticks in the future.
A bonus to this prop was the additional ambient lighting the fire provides. Even looks good in the light.
