Services for
Kenneth L. Smith, 67, of Bullard, are scheduled for Friday, July 13,
2007, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Forest
Smith and Dr. Mark Price officiating.
Burial will follow in
the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of
Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday,
July 10, 2007, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was
born July 8, 1940, in Tyler to the late Dee and Bessie Smith. He was
a faithful member and teacher at Southside Baptist
Church.
Kenneth was born and raised in Tyler, was a graduate
of Tyler High School, Class of 1958, and went on to Tyler Junior
College after serving three years in the U.S. Army. He worked for
the Tyler Post Office for 23 years, retiring in 1992 after serving
as a Postmaster of Oakwood and Fairfield.
Kenneth sang in the
Senior Moments Gospel Quartet. He enjoyed singing, had a passion for
studying the Bible and most of all loved spending time with his
family.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents;
brothers, Gayle Smith, Murrell Smith and Waymond "Joy"
Smith.
Kenneth is survived by his loving family including his
wife of 45 years, Carol Smith of Bullard; three sons, David Smith
and wife Karol of Keller, Danny Smith and wife Robin of Whitehouse,
and Dee Smith and wife Judy of Whitehouse; six grandchildren, Hope,
Payton, McKenlee, Drew, Tanner and Tristan; brother, Marlin and wife
Pat of Athens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers
will be the Deacons of Southside Baptist Church.
Honorary
pallbearers will be "The Noah" Men's Class at Southside Baptist
Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old
Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75703.
