Viewloader Revolution:
Getting agitated has never been so good. . .

I recently added a viewloader Revolution to my list of goodies.  I shouldn't have to tell you how nice an agitated loader is.  If you've ever had to stand there and shake a non-agitating loader, or missed a shot because your hopper had jammed you know what I'm talking about.  At $90 the Revolution wasn't cheap, but then again, what is anymore.  I bought my first agitated hopper years ago when the original VL 2000's came out.   They performed well enough but you could bet your bottom dollar that the first time the electronics took a hit that you would be shipping it off for repairs.  Reliability definately wasn't the VL 2000's strong suit.

Then came the 'Shredder'  I think the reference is to what the 'Shredder' did to it's own gears.  With the doubled power input the 'Shredder' had the umph to overcome those overloaded hoppers and really sticky jams that would put the regular  VL 2000 out of business.  This, at the cost of the 'Shredders' own gearbox.  'Shredders' tended to eat themselves for lunch after a bit of use.

All that has changed now.  The new Revolution has its voltage corrected so that the Servo gears will last longer.  Additionally a new battery case without snaps will prevent the old broken wire problem.  Like the 'Shredder' before it, the Revolution is molded of two halves that can be seperated for cleaning should this become necessary.  It also has a low battery warning light and on/off switch.

PRO'S.   Hey, it's an agitated hopper, what can I tell you?  No more ball jams or air shots.   The foreward profile is fairly slim making it a small target.  It's a big hunkin' one from the side however.   Not a single hiccup in feeding with it on.  Operation was flawless.

CON'S.  It's heavy.  If you don't like a lot of weight on your gun you may wanna think twice.  Don't get any ideas about getting it clean in a hurry if it takes a (or several) hits.   Disassembly is not easy.  Not well sealed against hits on the seams or around the electronics.

What I would like to see in future models.  It would be a plus if the halves were joined by a durable, quick release fastener.  The screws will strip if removed often, and it takes forever to do this anyway.  This is needed because seam hits tend to 'squirt' paint into the interior and electronics.  A better seal between the two halves would help.  The electronics especially could benefit from sealing.  My Revolution quit working for about an hour after taking a series of hits along the front of the electronics area.  Paint had sprayed into the interior and appearently shorted something out.  Thurough cleaning was not enough to remedy this.  Once the moisture had dried the problem ceased.

The final Say.  It's a must have if you are a hoser.  Despite the few problems the Revolution is by and far the best agitated hopper on the market.  The hits that temporarily disabled my Revolution would have destroyed the older VL 2000 with little doubt.  Walking off the feild after that incident I was certain the Rev was done for.  I was pleasently surprised when I discovered that it was working fine later.  The Rev literally looked as if it had been dipped in paint.  Super-Semi's in the hands of idiot's are not cool.  I think shooting my hopper once would have sufficed.
