Early Model Tippmann SMG-60. Note the external gas line. The first semi/full auto paintball gun. Fired .60 caliber
paintballs that were held in 5 round plastic stripper clips. The box tube magazine on the
side held 3 stripper clips. There was an optional extended magazine that held 4 stripper clips.
I owned an SMG-60 breifly. It was terribly unreliable in the field. It would work just great
when we were playing around in the yard with it. Never could quite figure that one out. The .60
caliber balls didn't have the range of the .68's and bounced a lot. I've been told that these babies were deadly on densely foliaged fields. I image so. At short range, against pump action guns they probably would
have been a real threat. .60 caliber paint is no longer
produced so the SMG-60 can be reguarded as little more than a curiosity now. |
