1/19/19 - Snow - 1.25 inches
2/7/19 - straightline winds moved through Pope County uprooting trees, causing power outages and property damage
2/10/19 - Light ice storm overnight and into the day.  Roads cleared by 9:00 AM and ice had melted from trees and scrubs by 11:00 AM
2/19/2019 - Light sleet in morning hours with no accumulation
3/3/19 - Early AM sleet with on accumulation

Late May and June  of 2019 saw record breaking flooding along the Arkansas River and other rivers in the state.  Property and road damage was devastating to many counties and communities

July 13 -15 Hurricane Bary brought flooding to SW and Southern Arkansas closing I-35 for one day and several state highways for a couple of days.

12/26/15 - 12/28/15 - Heavy rains cause flooding in the state and Pope / Yell county areas. Rain total was 7.66 inches with most rain on 12/27/15. On 12/27 one drowning death from flooding was reported in Pope County.

2015 Winter was the second warmest on record for the United States (1)  This winter season is an el Nino season

04/2012 - The USDA declares all of the state a Natural Disaster area because of drought conditions
05/2012 - The month of May had record breaking highs around the state and very little rainfall. May 2012 was one of the driest  May's on record.1
06/2012 - The month of June had record breaking highs around the state and most counties in the state experienced drought conditions. 1
07/2012 - Drought conditions continue throughout most of the state.  July 4th fireworks were cancelled in many areas, including Pope County, because of drought conditions.
The USDA and State of Arkansas declare 69 or 75 counties a drought disaster area.
07/31/2012 - Arkansas is declared at 80.63% extreme drought or exceptional drought.   Pope County is in an exceptional (worst) drought condition as reported by the U.S. Drought Monitor  2
08/30/2012 - Hurricane Isaac comes to us as a tropical depression bringing wind and rains to most  of the state.
12/25/2012 - Snow - 4 inches. A white Christmas for most of Arkansas, including Russellville. The Russellville area had a 4" snow with underlying ice. Many parts of the state saw 9 to 12 " with underlying ice.  The ice and snow caused major, and long term, power outages especially in the Little Rock, Benton and Hot Springs areas. Power outages continued into the new year in some areas.
12/2012 - The year ended with most of the state remaining in some degree of drought. Over half the state remains in extreme or exceptional drought.  2

4/25/2011 - Record breaking rainfall around state including Russellville. Deadly tornadoes and floods in state. Vilonia, AR all but destroyed from a tornado. 10 fatalities in state.

The summer of 2011 brought record breaking high temperatures and very little rainfall until mid August, which was too late for the vegetation.

2017 saw destruction from three, almost back to back hurricanes.  The first one hitting Texas in the Corpus Christi to Galveston area with the heaviest damage in Rockport and Port Aransas area.  The second hurricane hit the Caribbean Islands including the Puerto Rico.  The third hurricane hit the Caribbean again and this time caused all but 100% devastation to Puerto Rico.  During this time the weather in Arkansas was warm and very dry.

3/02/2014 - Ice and Snow accumulation of 0.76 inches. Mostly ice with some snow.
3/03/2014 - Light Snow throughout day with no additional accumulation. Temperature lows in the teens during the 2 day event

The 2013 / 2014 winter has seen more continuous days of overcast skies  than in a typical winter season
The 2014 spring  brought record breaking lows
7/4/2014 - July 4 had a high of 86.2 degrees F which was the lowest recorded temperature since 1976. (1)
2014 - will be remembered for a lack of heat. Through September, it was the 4th coolest year on record in Arkansas. It was a tame summer locally, including a record cool July. Days featuring 95 degree temperatures or higher were well below normal. (1)
11/16/2014 - Snow - 1.4 inches.. Record for this early in season. The early cold front brought freezing temperatures to all 50 states.
12/29/2014 - Very light dusting of snow
2014 - World over this year was one of the warmest on record.  Conversely, this area of the U.S. was cooler than normal for the year. (1)
