Families must often travel long distances to receive vital medical care for their loved one. Our House provides low-cost lodging with 10 warmly-furnished bedrooms and private baths, a beautiful kitchen where families can prepare their own meals, a large family room, sunroom, parlor, library, indoor and outdoor play areas, and laundry facilities. There are staff members and volunteers who understand and attend to the special needs of each guest family. Families from throughout the 55-county region can come to our House and draw support not only from their own family, but from other families that are going through the same ordeal. They share thoughts, questions, concerns, and experiences. Many lasting friendships have been made here at our Ronald McDonald House.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia, in conjunction with the Charleston Area Medical Center proudly opened the first area Ronald McDonald House FAMILY ROOM on the 4th Floor of CAMC's Women and Children's Hospital adjacent to the Pediatric ICU Unit .

The Family Room is designed to provide our "special form of hospitality" inside the hospital to the families of sick children who don't want to leave the hospital to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. This highly utilized Family Room is warmly decorated and includes sleep chairs, fully equipped kitchenette, shower, lockers, TV/VCR, games and an eating area.
