Bossi was definitely the best dog we ever had. He passed away on Christmas Day 1999. I hope it's true that all dogs go to heaven, because he sure deserves it.
A dear friend of mine wrote me something in an e-mail letter, after I had told her about Bossi. Here's what she said: Dear Petty, I'm sorry that I forgot to express my condolences on the loss of your lab in our last note. What a sad event on any day, but on Christmas... I'm reminded of a story I heard on a soap opera once. The character's dog had died, and her dad said "Don't you know where the good dogs go? The children who die are scared and bewildered as they travel to heaven. Max is well suited for his new duties as official escort for those children. He'll romp and play with them and help them get used to their wings..."
